DuVäl is the Owner and Principal Designer of DuVäl Design, LLC (DDLLC). After graduating with a B.A. in Interior Design and working his way up in another firm for twelve years, he opened his own full-service interior design firm in the Fall of 2017. Since then, he has been featured in Architectural Digest (AD), The Washington Post, Home & Design Magazine, Business of Home, Reveal Magazine, and others. He has been named as “The One to Watch” and “Hot Talent” and listed by AD as one of “13 Black Designers You Need to Know.” DuVäl has also been featured in HGTV’s Property Brothers, Drew and Jonathan Scott’s, online platform for the home, Casaza.
DuVäl is passionate about giving back to the design community and has previously held a board position with District Design Society, a networking group among young design professionals in the DC Metro Area. He has also served as board member for the nationally recognized International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA) DC Chapter, which strives to be “the driving force, through its programs and services, to enhance the professionalism and stature of the industry worldwide.”
Currently, DuVäl moderates a monthly gathering, Business Strategies for Minorities, where participants discuss best business practices. He also currently sits as co-chair of High Point Market Authority’s (HPMKT) Diversity Advocacy Alliance. He was named as one of HPMKT’s Style Spotters for 2022, the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world. He also enjoys visiting schools and talking to students about real-world experience, interview training, sales tactics, etc. currently serving on the Interior Design Advisory Council for Marymount University.
DuVäl and his wife, a former flight paramedic for the US Dept of Defense (DOD), recently started Fairfax Kitchen Cabinets, a multi-line cabinetry company for industry and trade partners. They also recently launched an e-commerce site, House of DuVäl, a curated collection of quality products to support local economies and small businesses. A leg of the company is dedicated to supporting causes that fight for humanity, individual rights, and personal freedoms.
