Our general process is broken down into three (3) parts:

  • PHASE 1:  Kick-Off Meeting

    • This is generally the same as the Initial Design Consultation (Meeting #1). Here is where we identify the nature of the project(s), purposes, extent of design work, feasibility, requirements, roles/responsibilities, etc.

    • Meeting is held at the job site, or in your current home. We will take our measurements, pictures, etc.

    • We will review Pinterest/HOUZZ images to identify style and color themes preferred. Measurements and photos will be taken at this time.

    • After this meeting, we will follow-up with you, listing actionable items by both parties. This will secure the expectations going forward, regarding the design style, projected timeline, etc.

  • PHASE 2:  Floorplans & Design Concepts

    • We will begin brainstorming design solutions (verbal, sketched, or written) before filtering out unworkable ideas and refining all practical ones—these include dimensions, lead times, availability, potential fabric/upholstery options, alternative selections, costs, etc.

    • Circulation patterns and minimum clearances are also considered and applied to scaled floor plan, showing furniture placement.

    • Rough sketches and elevations may be created while preliminary furniture and finish ideas are being developed.

    • The main design concept is articulated in the form of an Initial Design Style Presentation, expressing the principal ideas and approach behind the proposed design solution, to show you where we're headed with the project. It will generally include scaled floor plans showing furniture placement, a mood board with potential colors, materials, and finishes and the introduction of initial solutions to the spaces.

    • Depending on the scale of the project, we may request the client to pursue additional sketches, perspective drawings, full color renderings, 3-D models or computer simulations, all at additional rates.  

    • We will return to the job site (Meeting #2), or existing home, and review 1 to 2 different floorplan layouts and our suggestions. We will have print-outs for your review and record.
    • This will be your chance to adjust how we’re steering the ship, and offer additional feedback, regarding our overall concept. Adjustments can be made to the floorplan, furniture selections, etc.

  • PHASE 3:  Design Style Presentation

    • In this phase we will readjust the Furniture Plan and the Mood Board and begin developing floor plans, elevations, and other related items in greater detail, regarding all areas of the home.

    • Colors and finishes are refined, furniture, fabrics and equipment are selected, and cost estimates are prepared.

    • At this stage, project costs, including product+delivery and construction, can only be estimated, as precise costs can only be obtained once final working drawings are submitted to contractors, suppliers, and installers for their bids.

    • In addition to final selections, we’ll also pull a few alternative pieces, just in case.

    • We will reconvene on the job site to review our Design Style Presentation (Meeting #3), created specifically for your spaces. This document will detail our final selections for each room, along with final total budgets and suggested lead times.

    • Basically, at the end of this stage, you will know every item going into the home, and a contact total, should you decide to move forward. 


A quick breakdown of what to expect, regarding our prices…


  • To determine a furniture budget, we find that our clients range between $45-50/sqft, per floor. This cost includes the following: incoming freight for all products, furniture/product receiving, inspection, assembly, storage, in-home delivery w/ design team set-up (installation), waste removal, all appropriate taxes, and clean-up. This cost estimate includes semi-custom furniture, accessories, custom window treatments, and casegoods. 

  • For clients who require built-ins and minimal reconstruction, we recommend budgeting at least $65/sqft per floor.

  • When designing a home, we find that our design/procurement fees typically average around 14-16% of the furniture budget. More, or less, depending.

  • Furniture and furnishings are sold to client at retail (suggested retail or suggested market value) less 50% of any discount (suggested designer/wholesale); where the discount is greater than 10%. In other words, we will split our trade discount, in half, for all products sold, where discount is greater than 10%. So, if we get 20% off, you get 10%--if we get 60% off, you get 30%!

  • DDLLC does not offer itemized pricing lists. Pricing/Budgets are designed per room, or floor, of home. 

  • We start with a deposit of 10% of the furniture budget, up to $10,000; which will secure time in our schedule for our Kick-off meeting, as well as the design time between Meetings 1 & 2.

  • From there, we generally bill bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on the client preference.

  • Once the final selections are made, we will begin our Procurement Phase, which will be the time spent ordering, cataloging, inventorying, inspecting the furniture, etc. These fees should still be within that 14-16% cost mentioned earlier.

Please note, we are always open to discussing these costs in greater detail. We understand that this can be a major investment and we want you to know that we want to honor and respect that fact.

DDLLC hourly packages start with a 120 min in-home consultation with an upfront payment of $750.
The remaining consultation design hours are billed bi-weekly at $275/hr, with a 20hr min requirement to start any project.


Currently serving full, turn-key projects only. Minimum project investment of one (1) full room, managed by DDLLC, start-to-finish. Design projects (2-3 rooms) generally starts around $100,000, which includes furniture & design fees--and may include applicable remodeling costs. NOTE: We split our designer discounts (50/50) w/ our clients!

Not currently taking product-based designs that only focus on room editing or styling.
